The DS gets its own unique Arwing shooter, this time with touch-control flight mechanics unique to the DS. Lylat needs help. Players hop into their Arwing fighter and fight through a unique branching storyline of missions, all rendered in 3D. Star Fox DS brings a whole new strategic element to the series with a commander's view of the mission. Using the touch screen, players can draw the routes they and their teammates will take, then battle the enemies they encounter as they take over bases and strategically advance across the map. Players can also blow their friends out of the sky as they dogfight with up to eight players over a local wireless connection or take on up to four players from around the world on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

OK but not Starfox 64 5/10

Most Like: Starfox 64 The DS just isnt the ride handheld for this. The 3DS adds the analog stick so Starfox 3D has a big advantage otherwise this is an ok game to play on DS. They added a very dumb mission select screen that plays out like a strategy game but the space shooting can still be fun.

My expectations weren't too high coming into this game, so I was surprised to find myself having such a good time. There are various story paths, but all in all it's pretty pointless. However, the gameplay is where this shines, the battles are fast, furious, and the stylus works surprisingly well. The strategy segments of the battle are fun too, adding some much needed variety. The game looks pretty good too, but it does get old. A great rental.
