This was one of my most hyped games this year. It promised the comedy of Sonic, and the gameplay elements of Mario Galaxy. However it is a game with lost potential. The levels look great, but the gameplay mechanics are very frustrating. The speed is slowed down so you can platform, but a lot of times you will find it difficult to have sonic complete the action you want to execute. The Desert Area (2nd) really showcases the frustating elements. Rental at best, and big disapointment!
I really want to rate it higher.

World 1, and a few others were quite good. A great, high speed platforming experience. The wall runs work well. Sonic controls well once you get the hang of it. And despite what IGN would tell you, he has full potential for high speed. Yet many levels are very painfully designed. Slowly pushing snowballs into holes, slogging through swamp areas that make you WALK. The game sometimes forces a homing attack when you try to double jump. Due to lack of visibility it's hard to control.
