Return to witness the epic struggle between the spirit sword, Soul Calibur, and the cursed sword, Soul Edge, in Soul Calibur IV. Warriors from far reaches of the galaxy battle to control the powerful swords and use them for their own goals. Should these fighters succeed, they will face the ultimate judgment. The ongoing story continues with new revelations, exciting new gameplay features and stunning visuals. And perhaps most exciting of all, a character from the Star Wars universe will also make an appearance.
Last Soul Calibur game I played was for the Dreamcast, last fighting game I really played for longer then an hour was Dead or Alive 3, so take my opinion for what you will, this game was alot of fun, very much like playing an arcade fighter, the create a character was my favorite feature and blended well into the story and arcade mode, the "perk" system and level upgrade was a nice twist, I enjoyed it so much I traded in some games to own it at my local EB, worth a rental at least
Soul Calibur IV sets the standard for next gen fighting games. It boasts a challenging (albeit short) story mode, an incredibly simple yet deep fighter creation system and the great controls you'd expect from the series. There are many different modes to choose from, no doubt to compensate for the short story, tons of unlockables and great online modes.Without a doubt you'll want to own this rather than just rent it.
This game reminds me of classic mortal combat from way back in the day. Which to me makes this game useless, I want a game that sucks me in because it is original and has a good story. This is neither and I returned it after barely playing it. Not even worth a rent in my opinion.
