In this superhero-filled action-RPG, players assume the roles of more than 20 Marvel Super Heroes including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Blade and Captain America, and through their actions determine the fate of both planet Earth and the Marvel universe. The game features total team customization, where players create their own team name, icon and vehicle, as well as establish their team reputation as they play throughout the story. Battle the world's most notorious Marvel Super Villains in the air, underwater, and on the ground, using grappling, blocking and dodging moves, and even environmental objects as one and two-handed weapons. The storyline is designed open, and the missions that you choose to accept affect the outcome of the Marvel Universe. Also featured are competitive and co-operative multiplayer modes.
If you're a fan of action RPGs or Marvel Comics, you could do a lot worse than this game. For the action RPG fan, there's plenty of button-mashing goodness, and some basic leveling/points assignment to give you some progression. For the comics fan, there's a story that touches just about every corner of the Marvel Universe. This game is really what the old Konami arcade games (X-Men, TMNT) wanted to be when they grew up.
This game has a massive amount of content. I have never been a big comic book fan in the past, but this game has so much content in it that even I came across things I knew. There are tons of characters and things to do in this game. The combat is fun but mostly button mashing. I found this game got tedious after a while, so I never finished it, but it was fun while it lasted. It was a really good rental for me so I'd say rent this one. It's really well done.
If you're at all a follower of the Marvel Universe than you MUST rent (or buy) this game. Really fun game. Perhaps a bit simplistic controls (button-masher is a term that comes to mind), but really is a lot of fun. TONS of characters to play as & each one feels quite different (yet similar enough that you don't have to learn completely different controls to play someone different). Lots of unlockables to get. Great achievements that unlock at a fairly even pace. 4/5.
Great for sitting down with a few friends on a quiet night and pounding out a few frustrations. Keeps You entertained in single-player, but the localized MP is where it really shines.
