The Covenant control Earth. The Flood is unleashed. With the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance, Master Chief is the only one that can save the human race. The entire epic story arc has led up to this moment. Master Chief, the last of his kind, is a warrior born for combat, bred for war… and humanity's only hope. After stowing away on a Forerunner spacecraft, Master Chief, a genetically altered, cybernetically enhanced Spartan supersoldier, must race back to Earth to stop the Covenant once and for all and save mankind. With his artificial intelligence companion Cortana in the grip of the Flood's intelligent embodiment, Gravemind, Master Chief and his allies are vastly outnumbered. But the stakes are too high to do anything but face them head on. In “Halo 3,” the third installment of this legendary epic, the war has come to a climax -- the Flood continue to grow in numbers and strength, the armies of Earth are scattered and decimated, and the Covenant threaten to activate the Halo, effectively destroying all life in the galaxy. Master Chief's mission: to stop the Covenant, destroy the impending Flood threat and ultimately save mankind.
This is an excellent finale to the trilogy of Halo games. The story is very well done, and it helps to keep you want to move through the game. Awesome boss battles and vehicle usage in multiplayer and the story mode. On-line makes this game with so many people online always playing you won't ever not be able to get in a game, just make sure you get lots of practice though, because this is definately a hardcore shooter with many hardcore gamers playing on-line waiting to frag you.
What you get here is simply the best, most balanced first person shooter on the market. Single-player, Co-op (4 players), Multiplayer with the option to customize every little detail. The game even includes a replay theater where you and your friends can watch and share previous saved films together. Just a fantastic package with great visuals and music. The best fps on the market, will keep you busy for a LONG time! A definite purchase.
Halo 3 is definitely a must rent, however, depending on how much you love the trilogy would decide a purchase. Graphically - very good - the detailing is decent and no glaring flaws like texture popping up or floating objects. The game play is typical Halo style of run and gun, there is no cover system and the AI even at the normal setting is excellent. The story was average as I did not find the ending overly satisfying. The real shine to the game is it's multi-player action.
Well I was kind of disappointed in this game. I blame all the hype that was created from the first 2 games. Once I finished the game and playing multiplayer for about 20 hours, I found myself already bored of this game. The graphics are excellent, the story was excellent, not to mention surprising! The game menu was also well done, very original and easy on the eyes. A good collectible.
While I enjoyed Halo 3 a great deal, it was only because I could experience it with a friend. It really is more of the same, and if you like Halo, this game will do it for you. It hasn't aged well, and I find it tedious when played alone. It's worth playing, but there are better titles out there.
Pros
Game is probobly the best Shootem up there is today not counting old school titles.
Game has coop/splitscreen up to 4 players. Can even play on xbox live with guests.
Game has a forge (basic map editor but extremly fun).
Lots of vehicles to ride. They are designed right so you can even be hijacked and have the vehicle stolen from you.
Online is extremly fun.
Cons.
Only con in my openion is that there is no bots for offline.
Master Chief is back and still as badass as ever, once again the campaign is back to following the spartan through his adventure without switching back and forth. Many people may find this campaign disappointing, though it is satisfying it could have been more. Graphics in the game are good but nothing to brag about. The true masterpiece of this game is multiplayer and forge. Multiplayer will be played for years to come and forges map creation options are amazing. Great buy.
There is a TON to love in this game: great campaign, good visuals, co-op, tons of multiplayer options, innovative game recording mode, etc etc. If you liked Halo2 or the original then getting this is a no-brainer. If you didn't like Halo 2 then you probably won't care for this one. It's certainly not perfect, but it is a damn good game, easily one of the best of 2007.
If you like fast paced shooters this game is for you. In my opinion this is one of the best multiplayer games for xbox 360 if not the best. The online play can keep you going for months as you rank up. Definitely worth buying.
I'm a ps3 guy, but i got a 360 just to try out halo! this game sucks. why do people even like this game? Gears of war is way better than the halo series.
...and that's it. Run and gun. And because I don't live in my mom's basement anymore, I don't have the time or skill to ZOMGBBQ on legendary or multiplayer. And WTF happened to the story? FAIL!
You should know by now whether nor not you'll like this. If you're a Halo fan, go for it. Everyone else, don't listen to the hype. It is a GOOD game, but definitely nothing more. The controls are polished and the gameplay is balanced, making multiplayer fun, but it shines in no specific way. You could do a lot worse as far as FPS's go, but you could also do better.
