The second heart-stopping shooter by Monolith (after F.E.A.R.) continues the spine-tingling supernatural suspense story of an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to destroy a major American city. At the center of the calamity is the mysterious Alma, whose rage against those who wronged her triggered a chain of events that has spiraled completely out of control. Now that she has been loosed upon the world, the consequences will be unimaginable. Although this game is technically a follow-up to F.E.A.R., the game does not carry the F.E.A.R. franchise name due to a shift in publishers -- instead, it features a new name for its frights. Utilize the world interaction enhancements to create instant cover or remove obstacles Play with and against friends in multiplayer competition Enhanced graphics engine takes action horror to new heights through enhanced visuals and effects Enemies behave realistically and use the environment against you through vastly enhanced enemy Artificial Intelligence Maintains the authenticity of the Alma storyline.
Fear 2 has some great singleplayer action (didn't try multiplayer) and some really fun levels. The storyline and characters become more disturbing and interesting as the pieces start to fall into place and the game climaxes with one of the most bizarre end sequences I've ever seen. Well worth trying if you're a fan of the survival/horror genre.
The gameplay in this game is great, the shooting, slo-mo, grenades and melee all work great (though you may have to get used to enemies taking a little extra bullets to die than most games). The story line is just fine as well, perfectly suited for a horror game. Speaking of horror, there's lots of it. Multiplayer can be decent at times though few are playing it anymore. Single-player is where this is at, and it rocks.
When you put yourself intot he game with a headset and the dark, this game is scary! The slow motion is just the best part for me. If you liked the first one you'll love this is even better!
If you are looking for a game that will keep your blood pressure high, go somewhere else. If, however, you are looking for a well executed FPS, this is the game for you. The combat is fairly smooth with few glitches, the storyline is the same shallow cliche you would expect from an FPS, but ties in nicely with the series. Enemies are unreasonably strong, and you are not exactly invincible as in most other modern FPS.
I can't quiet say this game is good or bad. It has aspects of both. When fighting with soldiers I think this game truly shines. It's greatest weakness is it's incredibly boring environments, a common theme in Monolith titles I find. It can be scary but it's often just because something jumped out at you.
This game was pretty fun, although not really scary at all, but Dead Space really desensitized me. Gameplay flows really well, gunning down enemies never gets old, especially in slow motion.
It was a little short, and fairly easy, a good sunday, piss around game.
fear 2 was just like fear one. could scare the hell out of you at any given point but felt just like the first one. a good shooter but not great 6.5 out of 10
