Heavy Rain is an interactive, single player, action adventure game in which every decision players make influences the evolution of a desperate quest to catch a deadly killer poised to strike again. Featuring a complex and dark storyline meant for mature audiences, the game is a PlayStation 3 exclusive featuring a variety of possible endings, advanced crime scene analysis, replayable chapters, four playable characters and the ability to continue play as remaining characters in the event of your current character's death.
Heavy Rain is an interesting game. It plays out more like an interactive movie with Quick Time Events (QTE). It has you playing as four different characters trying to find the Origami Killer. The game has an excellent musical score and the story while it has plot holes is still well done. If you own a PS3 do yourself a favor and rent this game. It is one of the best games on the PS3 to date.
I'm glad to see the "interactive fiction" style of games take a solid foothold (same company did Indigo Prophecy on PS2 which was a sleeper hit). This game has some impressively suspenseful scenes that will make your heart pound. Motion capture was great, graphics were great. Unfortunately the voice acting is not up to par when compared with the Uncharted series, and the writing is not up to par when compared with the top eschelon of story-heavy games that are out today.
This game was incredibly immersive and enjoyable the first time playing through it. Characters have relatable traits and feel human and the animation and movement is excellent. I did find it amusing that all the childrens voices were clearly french children reading english but it did not ruin the experience. After playing through the game once, however, the pace slows down. Playing through a scene multiple times to achieve all endings or trophies quickly becomes tedious. Still a must play.

Stunning, completely stunning. This game i can say probably isn't for everyone taste wise, but if your into great story and innovative game play look no further than Heavy Rain. The amount of different story arcs and re playability is amazing, definitely worth a try, also the fact that the game has full uncensored boobs makes it a must.
Had I rented Heavy Rain from a store down the street, I wouldn't have had the patience to sit through it all. That said, I'm glad I did as the game does get better around hour 3 of play. When this type of cinematic gameplay works, it is nothing short of perfection, but when it doesn't, it's scream-inducingly dull. If you're the patient, mature type of gamer, I would recommend this title.

Heavy Rain is an excellent game. It is so unique and evolutionary in its gameplay that it would be near sinful to never play this game. The story, though not original nor completely balanced, keeps the player hooked to the very end. The gameplay is smart and well placed and you have a constant feeling of "what if I did that, what sour have happened" giving the player immense replay value. Do your self a favour and play this game!
I thought the game was very well thought out and planned. I felt as if I was controlling a movie, and loved how every decision i made affected the ending. I will admit the slow of the game was a bit slow, but over all it was a very entertaining, and suspenseful game. I recommend it to gamers who love a role-playing style game, and murder mystery.
My expectations were pretty low for this "game". From what I read and saw, its more of a movie than a game. I was just surprised at how much I enjoyed the story and the QTEs. Has an interesting, branching story, that kept my attention throughout the game. The twist at the end kinda ruins the momentum it had. Didn't bother checking the other endings. Would rate hire if the good end did not have so many holes in it.
Started off a little on the slow side, but later on found myself sucked in. in a world full of copycats its nice to see an original idea and something new.definatly worth playing though once. trophy hunting in the end was mind numbing.if i found this game in a bargan bin for $5-$10 id buy it but other then that its a good rent for a couple weeks
There needs to be more games like this for the move. This game captures you and really gets you involved in the story. The game mechanics are also very cool.
If ever there was a game to be described as "an interactive movie", Heavy Rain is that game. If you are a player who prefers to skip all the cutscenes and focus on the gameplay, this is not the game for you. Puzzles are easy to solve, and the quick time events are very forgiving. I was able to clear the game on my first attempt on Normal difficulty without ever needing to reload and got one of the best endings.
Getting all trophies is also very easy and only require a few days.
The game is so interesting and feels just like watching a movie. I felt right into the story the whole time. The gameplay took me a little while to get used to but it was really good.
It's never the same. This was the first game I bought when I purchased my PS3, it was the main reason I bought a ps3 actually. The graphics blew me away, I really enjoyed the plot throughout the game. I recommend this game to anyone.
This is a must play game! You decide of the story with your actions and evey actions have a consequence later on the story so you can play many times and have may stories.
As a gamer who really enjoys story drivin games, I was pleasantly surprised by heavy rain. though the story's pacing could have been tighter and one unanswered plot point could potentially bug the heck out of you, the characters are strong enough for you to get emotionally involved which is essential for games like this.
I was pleasantly surprised by this game. The story wasn't overly engaging so I felt like i could put the controller down any time I wanted, but with the different style of control during the interactive sequences glued me to the couch. Never did I get tired of playing as any one of the characters as the story has you changing characters very often which keeps the game fresh and exciting. I didnt play with the move controllers but i'm not certain it would be a huge difference than the sixaxis.
well so many people said that the game play was ordinary but i dont think so its excited and awesome i love each and every moment of that game and i ll wait for second part
This is not your ordinary game. This is time base events, where you decision can either be good or bad depending on the situation. The gameplay overall is very good, story is not long but you definetly want to play to see all endings. It does have some intense monents. This is pretty easy to pick up and play. Recommended.
Good game played it through once, very unique. have never played a game like this before. The other people who reviewed it said everything perfectly(how its like an interactive movie...) definitly worth a try.
Well for me this is more like 3/4 movie and only 1/4 game - you have very little control, your actions are pretty much straight forward and is more like testing your reflexes than actually controlling the character - you have less than a second to press random keys and combination. Very often you are obliged to do tamagotchi like pointless actions - change the baby , feed someone, drink etc...
That said the "game" is nicely done, if you like gamebooks you will like it, the story is interesting.
I just watched the IGN.com video review and all I can say is that I will be buying a PS3 just so I can play this game it makes mass effect 2 look shameful. Just a little more linear but still alot of choices which indeed do affect the games outcome.
