With crime lord Charles Jericho now on the loose San Francisco faces a terrible threat. Only one man can stand against him. He has driven the streets of a hundred cities, spent his whole life putting criminals behind bars. But to take Jericho down, there can be no turning back, and he knows that this may very well be his last ride. His name is John Tanner. He is the DRIVER. Developed by Ubisoft Reflections, creators of the original title, DRIVER SAN FRANCISCO is the return of the established action driving video game series that has sold 14 million copies worldwide. Gamers play John Tanner, a hardened detective involved in a relentless manhunt throughout the City by the Bay. Thanks to a groundbreaking gameplay feature, players can now seamlessly shift between more than a hundred licensed vehicles, keeping them constantly in the heart of the action. With its timeless atmosphere, unique car handling and renewed playability, DRIVER SAN FRANCISCO offers the free-roaming, classic, cinematic car chase experience.
This title offers 25+ hours of play, with only modes; though you need a 'Uplay' passport to play online. The story is very weak. The graphics are much better during cutscenes, compared to in-game. The music library is weak. The voice over's are okay but the sound effects are generic. The controls become a hassle, later in the game. The AI can be challenging. This is not the 'Driver' experience from previous editions. Rent only if you like this genre and there's nothing else to play.
Driver is a strange game. The story is cheesy at best, graphic are average, cutscene are incredible. The game is still fun if you don't care about the story. The shift ability is a very nice idea. Pursuit are very different because of that. It's a good 10-15 hours of play to complete it. Online was bad.
Cars look great. Quickly switching between cars is fun. The boss fight was disappointing. Online multiplayer requires Ubisoft Passport which is no included with the rental. However you do get a "3 day" trial. For whatever reason, my trial was stuck at 999 hours. Overall good game. Recommended.
Which means they made a mediocre game. If you like a corny story, ONLY driving, cars that handle like concrete blocks on icy and hilly streets, and monotonous repetition, this game is for you. The best thing about this game, and I am NOT kidding, were the cut scenes. They were the only thing keeping me into the game as long as I was.
