Gears of War is the first game developed by Epic Games exclusively for Microsoft Game Studios and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. Gears of War thrusts gamers into a deep and harrowing story of humankind's epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet.
This is a fantastic game. Everything is designed and implimented very well. The graphics are great, the sound is great, the gameplay is great, everything is good in this game. Multiplayer is a lot of fun in this one too. I've beaten the singleplayer on this game a great many times. I beat the difficulties by myself and in co-op. Co-op in this game is awsome. I definately think you should rent this and try out co-op with a friend. Very fun.
There are some games that just go down as instant classics. Everything is perfect in execution from sound, to graphics, to game play. This game will be hailed and referenced just as Halo and Final Fantasy have. This game will not disappoint, from the absolute stellar single player experience to the brutal fun of the multilayer. This is hands down the best game I have ever had the opportunity to play.
First of all, I have to say it: the graphics in this game are phenomenal, and the sound is incredible. The gameplay is certainly a nice change from many shooters, involving some strategy, although I found the cover system a bit repetitive at times. The story is nothing to write home about and the characters are kind of annoying, but the single player is still a good time. The online multiplayer is just the icing on the cake.
Next to Halo 3 this was probably the most hyped game to appear on the 360. And this one lived up to the hype. Absolutely stunning visuals, great story, great characters & dialogue, innovative gameplay (taking the cover system from GRAW & really improving it), absolutely top-notch co-op experience. Multiplayer is really something of an acquired taste, some people love it, and some hate it. Achievements (aside from "Seriously") are quite good & there's now lots of bonus content for the game. 5/5.
Best game of 2006. Campaign EXTRODINAIRE, and its Co-op ;). Multiplayer, best ive seen on any game. Very fun. Sound, graphics AMAZING. Epic did a great job, and if you havent played it. You need to!
Gears is a must buy and at least rent. The positives are excellent multiplayer action, excellent graphics, perfection of cover system, excellent fast pace action, co-op player via split screen or online, intelligent AI (especially at higher settings), lots of replayability between the achievements and different multiplayer modes. The negatives with gears are definetly weak story, cover system controls are sometime to responsive, "A" button is also used to run and voice acting is average.
This game is a revolution for shooters and consoles. It has taken the bar far beyond the rest and pushed even further. Finally a shooter that works with a console! This game is so great with a controller, people on the computer version will be using Xbox 360 controllers instead of a mouse and keyboard. It's that great of a control scheme! The 3rd person angle is the future of shooters and is flawless in this game. This title made the Xbox 360 much like the original Halo for the original Xbox.
A classic title that does a lot to advance the genre. I found it difficult to enjoy alone, and it was a much, much more satisfying experience with a friend over Xbox Live. The story, characters and dialogue are entirely forgettable, but the gameplay is worth the price of admission. A definite milestone that shouldn't be missed.
Good Story, Cool Tools/Wepons, Fun Game play, Lots of Small issues, a few Wierd glitches: "pushable car" that isnt always pushable makes the noise but stays put/ or only moves alittle then goes flying and bouncing through the air lands upside down then 'blinks' back to its starting position. game is still worth playing mulitplayer is epic!
This was the first blockbuster game for the Xbox 360 and it was awesome. The graphics were amazing and the gameplay was phenominal. The multiplayer might look small, but it is really fun and one of my favourite games this generation. The campaign was about 8 - 10 hours, but your going to have tons of fun in multiplayer. If you own a 360, this is a must have game.
