Darksiders is a third-person, single player action/adventure game inspired by the characters, themes and mythology of the apocalypse and the battle of Armageddon described by the Book of Revelation. But this modern interpretation is not your run of the mill Sunday school stroll through the New Testament. In the game players take on the role of "War", one of the dread Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. But things are not as they were.
Darksiders is a game that takes a bit from many different games and puts them together. The combat is kind of like God of War but the dungeons/puzzle elements are like Zelda. The story and art style look and feel much like a comic book. The game has a good mix of puzzles and combat where you can buy different combos and more magic spells known as Wrath. If you enjoy Zelda games or puzzles then you should enjoy this game. It takes 15 to 20hrs to finish but lacks replay value with no New Game+.
Darksiders gets a lot of hate b/c it is compared to gears of war and zelda; What is wrong with that? The game has a decent story and will keep you entertained for its length. Admittedly, the combos and fighting was shallow and puzzles could be more interesting BUT I had fun playing the game. A solid rental that should be on your list.
Playing this I definately felt some similarities to the Dante's Inferno, the looks and style of gameplay at least, with a little Bayonetta thrown in. It is any incredibly long game though, and those that find searching and discovering everything will find this a treat, provided you have the patience. Lots of puzzles to solve of varying complexity, alot of backtracking, but a bit too long for my liking. I just wanted it to be over after 20 hours of play.
A clever mix between: Zelda/Metroid & God of War/Devil May Cry. Darksiders is pretty much as generic as it's name, but incorporates the best elements of these games and at the same time, never surpasses any of them. A lengthy adventure (15 hours) which unfortunately ends with a zelda/Metroid fetch quest that artificially lengthens the game before the final encounter. Great game (8.4/10)
This game is like the illegitimate love child of God of War and Legend of Zelda. It's a perfectly serviceable action adventure title, but there is not one original idea throughout. It's not a bad game, but it's not a particularly good game either. I just couldn't get over the "seen all of this before" factor. Don't read this as a negative review. It's worth playing, but don't expect too much.
Darksiders is a third-person adventure game, you are one of the four horsemen "War" The first mission acts as a tutorial showing you how to play and how to use your equpiment, but then you get framed and lose all your powers. a rip-off of the prototype start. All in all it was a very fun game that kept me on the edge of my seat. I rate this an 8/10 unfortunately there is nothing to do other then the main missions.
