Modern Warfare 2 follows the same winning and time-tested structure of earlier games in the series. In the single player campaign players are aided by AI squad members as they take on a series of missions aimed at eliminating Ultranationalist forces. Along the way, players will be able to utilize a wide variety of weaponry and vehicles, as well as be able to customize weapons with gadgets attached to them. Also, just as in previous games in the series, Modern Warfare 2 is heavily focused on multiplayer gameplay. The different multiplayer modes, available both in local play and online, contain plenty of customization options and revolve around different strategies ranging from the every man for himself action of "Free-for All," the classic team-based fun of "Capture the Flag and the tactical, team-oriented action of "Search and Destroy," just to name a few. Multiplayer modes also feature the "Perk" System that players may be familiar with from earlier in the franchise. Through this system players gain additional abilities, weapons and benefits as they gain experience in combat. This can be done by leveling up, but another important way way is through "kill streaks," the number of enemies eliminated in succession. Players have the ability to customize in advance which perks will be available at each number and can even gauge their progress towards each at the touch of a button. With an eye towards not making the game too hard for new players the game also features help to players experiencing "death streaks," multiple consecutive deaths in multiplayer matches. Modern Warfare 2 also features a unique third main play option, Special Ops Mode. Available both online and in local play, Special Ops Mode is designed to provide a distinct time-based play option, featuring special scenarios not found in other modes in the game and lots of enemies to take on.
ive only played COD2 previous to this one, but i thought i would give CODMW2 a shot, and i'm glad i picked this one up. the single player is a shorter story but that is a small undernote to the new special op's mode, which is fun (make sure you have friends tho u gamers, much better with a good bud on your side) also multiplayer is always great, with the typical mouthy players. who think its real life. alot of replay value. and will be around my xbox for a while.
This is a good game, don't get me wrong but its more of the same. The single player campaign is great in parts but extremely frustrating in others (Favella) - the story is overblown and unbelievable unlike COD4 & 5. Spec Ops is great and the best part of the game. The multiplayer is very good but the problem lies with the other players. There are just too many jerks playing this online, it spoils it for everyone. I'll be trading this in once I'm done with Spec Ops mode.
Single player is alright "special Ops" is a fun challenge the xbox live experiance requires two things, lots of practice as some ppl seam to live this game and that you swich the sound from the xbox to music you like. play at home in split screen with frinends, and get drunk way more fun then.
This game was a huge leap forward when looking back at previous COD titles. The customizable killstreaks really help players play to their style. Singleplayer campaign is really intense but no co-op. Spec-ops make for a great mini-game to follow up Nazi Zombies.

Story was short but loaded with action and added to a great story... I hope they extend the story in number 3 however they need to mix it up a bit and dont make things so easy to glitch.. Start with a new engine =) I bought the night vision goggle set was it worth it or what how many games can you get pre-order that have something this cool. Dont rent this game BUY IT!
this has to be the best cod ever! the gameplay is awesome, controls are awesome, heck the whole game is awesome! just one problem... there are a lot of hackers that are there to make your life a living hell. but it's still fun!
The game is everything I expected it to be. It made some improvements, but didn't change a lot. Some of the environments were gorgeous and a breath of fresh air. (ice and snow levels) Where as some felt like rehashes of Modern Warfare 1 levels. (anything with a creek or fields of grass) I applaud them for introducing the copy-cat option to steal the class from the last player who killed you. So overall the game is a sequel.
