Jerusalem, 1191 AD - The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You are an elite Assassin sent to stop the hostilities by suppressing the powers on both the Crusader and Saracen sides. But as you carry out your missions, a conspiracy begins to unfold. You find yourself tangled up in a conflict that threatens not only the Holy Land, but the entire world. Experience the power of a feared Assassin. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape the events of this pivotal moment in history.
The over-hype for Assassin's Creed was its only fault. Yes, there are a few graphical issues here and there but they are minimal. What matters is how much fun the game is and Assassin's Creed is action packed from beginning to end: hundreds of sword combos, riding your valiant steed into battle, swan diving 200ft off buildings, devastating assassin blade kills. Assassin's Creed leaves you praying the rumors of this IP being a trilogy are more fact then fiction! Crossing my fingers...
Assassin's creed definitely has its moments, and the first level you play will really wow you. Unfortunately, the second level is the same as the first, the third the same as the second, and so on. This is a great game to rent and experience, and had there been more variety in the missions it would have scored higher, but in the end the game felt like a grind. There's a lot of potential here though, so I'd expect big things from the sequel.
This game is a groundbreaker when it comes to plot, concept, and playability. The amount of environment manipulation you have is immense. Literally the entire map is yours to climb/walk/run on. Great plot concept with some neat twists at the end.
Much more than a revamp of the Prince of Persia franchise. The cities are amazing in scope. The feeling of height is breath taking on a large screen or projector. Most of the value is in the presentation and not in the gameplay, but like a movie with awesome special effects, still worth the experience.
Achievements are also relatively easy.
Well, I rented this game first from my local game store, and it took me a week to finish it, bit i wasn't 100% finished it.
So I rented it from GameAcess, and got the 1000G in it.
The game itself, is good graphics, nice cutscenes, and good amout of gore. It also shows how life was back around those times.
But after doing 4-5 assassinations, it gets too repeating, just getting information, and kill another target, seems too replay-i-tive.
I would give this a 7.5/10 though.
This game looks amazing and in many respects deserved some of the hype it got. Unfortunately it doesn't lend itself to continual play after you've completed a few missions. In fact, it gets tedious. I also found it quite annoying to have to worry about raising suspicion with guards that seemed to be every 10 feet. The jumping and climbing controls are great and the combat system is good. A great rental, likely not a good buy at full price although it's dropped to $20.
Fluid gameplay is what makes the game as running and hopping through buildings and landscapes is done well. However, the repetitive tasks is what makes the game quite mediocre (especially combat). If you liked Prince of Persia but wanted a much more open game. This is it, if not, then you'll find that this game is a little dry. Rent it.
This game has been in the back burner for me to play for quite some time. Now that I've finished it I can say that while some of the criticism is justified, the game itself is well worth a play-through, even just to experience the narrative it presents. Near the end of the game doing the same tasks over and over becomes a bit of a chore, but the final scenes make up for all of it, including one of the most unique endings one will experience in a game.
This games is like the love child between prince of persia, oblivion and the legend of zelda thrown in there. Honestly this game is amazing and FUN you know fun that thing gaming was supposed to be until gaming became like second job. It's a bit short though so rent it don't buy.
The game has a nice dual story that fits together quite well. Graphics are quite well done and jumping off a 300 foot churches is absolutely stunning. The gameplay is fairly simple and you'll be doing the same style of fighting throughout the whole game. The animation in the game is probably the most fluid every, it feels and looks so natural climbing houses and sword fighting. I had a lot of fun playing this title!
This game is definitely one of the best of 2007. It is a ton of fun climbing around in the beautifully put together towns. The only problems that I had (that are very easy to get over) were: un-intelligent AI fighting, somewhat repetitive gameplay, and no on-line. An excellent rental when you can keep it until you beat/get tired of this great game.
I think the hype of this game set my expectations too high... I found the game a bit repetitive with finding these mini objectives on the map and following the plotline..
I unfortunately became bored rather quickly.
