In this long-awaited exclusive Xbox 360 title, fill the shoes of one Alan Wake, a man who makes his living from the terror of others as a best-selling suspense novelist. An intense psychological thriller from Remedy, the creators of Max Payne, Alan Wake raises the bar for future games, creating a true cinematic experience. Explore an expansive world filled with missions, unique puzzles, intense combat, and horrifying enemies. Dig into a twisting and multi-layered story filled with suspense, engaging characters, and shocking revelations.
Intense psychological thriller: Alan Wake delivers a deeply psychological and finely crafted plot that raises the bar for storytelling in video games. The riveting story of Alan Wake is propelled by a movie-like atmosphere, compelling situations, memorable characters, and real-time pacing. Remedy has a record of creating and developing games with unique cinematic presentation and exceptionally high production values.
Light as a combat element: As Wake journeys deeper into the mystery of Bright Falls, the shadows close in around him. When darkness descends, light becomes his only ally as he fights his way to daybreak. This poses a severe problem for Alan Wake since his enemies seemingly gain strength from the shadows, and before long, light itself becomes his greatest ally. Players must skillfully combine their use of light with more conventional weapons to stand a chance.
I found this storyline to be great and if it was actually a book it would be a page turner for sure. I was on the edge of my seat a lot of the time and if you play in the dark, you'll be sure to jump at least a few times. The only real flaw that ruined the game for me was the repetitive fighting like someone else has already stated.
So I went into this game not expecting anything. But I knew it was going to be good due to reviews. This game was one of the most fun and captivating games in a couple months that I have played and I play'm all.
Although short I really enjoyed myself.Graphics are fantastic, and unfortunately some mouth movements are terrible but not game killing terrible.
Voices/sounds on the small tv's were off as well.
Other then that it was a fantasic overall experience.
9/10!
This game was fantastic. I beat it in less then two days. I don't mean the game has a small play time. Because it doesn't. I couldt put it down, luckily i wasnt working but that weekend was completely take up by the incredible play of this game. Keeping me on my heels, this game has one of the greatest stories to play through, and the action gets very intense. Nothing boring about it, the scenery is crazy superb. The only flaw was some of the characters faces and how they moved
Great visuals, fun, intense, FANTASTIC story line and a very well thought-out game. Play this on Hard mode instead of Normal and you will love it. Also play through it a second time to catch a lot of little things that you didn't notice the first play through, and there's guaranteed to be a lot of them. Lots of collectibles too if that's your thing.
Refreshingly original. Fighting system is great and smooth. Story is definitely interesting and will keep you guessing. Be prepared to jump a few times I know I did. One of the best games I have played in a years. Not 10 / 10 due to the ending.
Enjoyable 3rd person action, limited replayability
Alan Wake drips with atmosphere and intense moments with a fluid and fun combat system and interesting story. Its a good length, mixing calm moments in between the hectic fight for survival. A lackluster ending, stereotypical characters, annoying in game advertising during gripping moments coupled with limited replay value keeps this from being a buy. A must rent.
I had heard a lot of hype about this game so I decided to give it a shot and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline! It was very entertaining and it actually made me jump a couple of times. But, honestly the repetitive flashlight fighting made it very annoying in some parts and took away from the overall feel of the game. I only played it through because I needed to know how the story ended. My result - great story...fantastic atmosphere...flashlight fights not so good
This game is one of the best i have played in a long time. It has the perfect balance between being creepy and involving you into the story. It may have a few spots where the humor was a little out of place and the charecters at time may seem a little sterio-typical but all in all the game was a perfect length to keep you enjoying it and the story was very interesting. If you are a fan of Dead space, Jerico, Silent hill or any other horror games then i am almost %100 sure that you will love it.
I remember when I first heard about this game.....when the 360 first launched, it was one of the factors in me deciding to buy a 360. Since then the game has changed, newer games have impressed me....and my hype for it died down. Despite my lower expectations, I had a lot of fun with this game, really liked the intense gameplay and solid storytelling, despite being in development for so long the graphics were very impressive. Glad I rented it, but I am curious about the DLC...heard good things.
When I first played Alan Wake, I remember it was 5:45pm when I started and I marathoned it through till 6.30am the next day. The story of it all kept me going to the very end and with the addition DLC, it adds another hour or two to gameplay. The combat does seem repetitive but it has its share of moments. Rent this awesome game that was developed by the Remedy, creators of Max Payne, and stock up on your Dr. Peppers and Red Bulls cause the story will keep you playing!
Amazing story and great story telling. Good cut scenes. A game where you can have an audience watch you play. The shooting could have been better. Good idea with the flash light, but the mechanics seemed slighly off.
This game started out great, unfortunately the disc was scratched and didn't work after the 5th hour or so. What I can say is: Great atmosphere, awesome graphics, great story, repetitive game play, bizarre character faces, scary. 8/10
Alan Wake was a very well done game. I loved it's dark atmosphere and forestry settings. I wish it was a little longer though. I reccomend this game to anyone who is a fan of the silent hill series.
Alan Wake is a game that shouldn't be missed. Fantastic atmosphere, terrific story, and excellent visuals make this game a soon-to-be classic. From the time you pop in the disc, you will be pulled into a story and world that wont let go. You will not want to stop playing... the atmosphere and thrill never wears thin and will keep you hooked from beginning to end. the game is pretty scary, so it may not be for everyone. but if you can handle it, its a game that you will definitely enjoy!
Alan Wake is clearly a labour of love for Remedy, the game's developer. The attention to detail is astounding, and it creates a game that is dripping with atmosphere, quality gameplay and an engaging storyline. Definitely one of the best titles out right now, on any system!
Maybe there was too much hype about this game, but it definitely did not live up to what this game said it was. The first 10 minutes is fun, but then its the same old thing over and over and over again. Shine a stupid flashlight at someone until the "darkness" goes away and then shoot them. It wasn't very scary either, just creepy and weird.
Alan wake is one of the best looking games on Xbox 360. I love horror but this game just was not scary at all ! don't get me wrong its fun game but man it get repetitive at the last 2 chapter of the game. Didn't get to play the DLC but by the time i got to the end of the game all i want to do is end it back and get a new game.
Alan Wake is a psychological thriller type game. You basically are trying to save your wife throughout the game and running through the town of Bright Falls. The atmosphere in the game is beautiful and so is the town. However, the combat suffers from being repetitive and so does the game. There is only one enemy in the whole game and you use the same method to kill them. Use your flashlight to make them vulnerable and then shoot. The character models look dated and the story isn't that strong.
