Diverse in-game environments rife with NPCs offer an abundance of exploration opportunities and side missions.
I liked it more then FF13, however I feel that as a whole neither game was very memorable for me like previous final fantasy games.
Combat is pretty much the same as 13 except your third party member is now a monster that you tamed, nothing overly exciting there. Level ups are actually more linear now, instead of choosing the path in the selected role you now just select the role.
As far as story goes I feel that you could skip 13 and go straight to this one and still understand the plot.
This game is long, very long to complete. It took me 75 hours to platinum. The combat is not a lot of strategy, but a lot of button mashing. It get very repetitive. The cast is average and the story is very complicated. The visual is great but camera are moving way to fast for my taste. It's a definitive rent.
