Assassin's Creed II is the sequel to Assassin's Creed. While you don't need to have played the original it helps to understand the story. While the original had many flaws i.e. guards chasing you forever. AC2 fixes many of those flaws that made the original more annoying to play. The missions offer now more variety and aren't simple side quests to get to your main targets like in the original. This game has a lot of replay value and an amazing story. It is a MUST BUY or an excellent rental.
Surprise of the year! (for me) 10/10

As someone who abandonned the first game halfway through, AC2 was a surprise hit for me. So much so that I got 100% trophies and purchased both DLCs. The fighting mechanics are a delight, best historical setting in a game ever. Gone is the tedious "unlock this area before you kill somebody" requirements from the first title. You can chose a variety of ways to complete you hits as well. A must play!
  Awe inspiring game 10/10

AC II is an amazing game and is far superior to AC I which was the best game of 2007. Undoubtedly, AC II is the best of 2009. The animation, story line, combat, cut scenes were more than perfect. Strongly recommended.
  Much improved over first one

This is what the first one should of been. It isn't as repetitive for one and you have many more options on how to complete each mission. The only drawback is there is no online play so longevity might be a factor but still plenty to do with all the missions and feather collecting. 8/10
  Awesome game

Assassin's Creed II, is a great sequel that has changed a lot since the first one. I did not rent it but I thought that it would be a nice thing to add a review since I bought it. I love it and I suggest you buy it.
Great game! Better than the first

When renting this game I did not want to spend too much time on side missions that would not effect the story however there is just the right amount to do in this game and when done I scored 84% of the trophies. Great Action, Great story, Recommend!
  Still bo-oring..... 6/10

I agree with the previous reviewers that it has improved from the first one but is still a lot of repetition - kill this, kill that , jumps , run, pointless climbing - I don't see that much diversity . It has nice touches with Leonardo's improvements on the weapons but the level of difficulty is a joke - the only time I am dieing is if accidentally drop from a tower- the opponents are easy to kill no mater how heavy are they - I do remember the Templars from the first were much more difficult.
