Get ready to plunge into the lush and deadly world of the Italian Renaissance, an era of arts, riches and murderous conspiracy. Assassin's Creed II introduces you to Ezio, a new assassin carrying on the deadly lineage of his forebears. Confront an epic tale of power and corruption as you hone your assassin's art, wielding weapons and instruments designed by the legendary Leonardo da Vinci himself in this gripping and deadly sequel.
Assassin's Creed II is the sequel to Assassin's Creed. While you don't need to have played the original it helps to understand the story. While the original had many flaws i.e. guards chasing you forever. AC2 fixes many of those flaws that made the original more annoying to play. The missions offer now more variety and aren't simple side quests to get to your main targets like in the original. This game has a lot of replay value and an amazing story. It is a MUST BUY or an excellent rental.
As someone who abandonned the first game halfway through, AC2 was a surprise hit for me. So much so that I got 100% trophies and purchased both DLCs. The fighting mechanics are a delight, best historical setting in a game ever. Gone is the tedious "unlock this area before you kill somebody" requirements from the first title. You can chose a variety of ways to complete you hits as well. A must play!
AC II is an amazing game and is far superior to AC I which was the best game of 2007. Undoubtedly, AC II is the best of 2009. The animation, story line, combat, cut scenes were more than perfect. Strongly recommended.
This is what the first one should of been. It isn't as repetitive for one and you have many more options on how to complete each mission. The only drawback is there is no online play so longevity might be a factor but still plenty to do with all the missions and feather collecting.
8/10
Assassin's Creed II, is a great sequel that has changed a lot since the first one. I did not rent it but I thought that it would be a nice thing to add a review since I bought it. I love it and I suggest you buy it.
This game was a lot of fun... no two ways about it! It's a huge improvement upon the first title of the series. It's not nearly as repetitive and there are a large number of new elements included. The history thrown into the story is intriguing, as fact meets fiction for a fun twist on the history book.
For trophy hunters, it's an easy 25 hour or less platinum (took me 23.5 hours gameplay).
Graphics are decent, but do not live up to the PS3's expectations.
This game is fun! It's not a long one by any means but fun just the same. There are many different types of weaponary to choose from and different ways to play. Easy plat for trophy hunters!
When renting this game I did not want to spend too much time on side missions that would not effect the story however there is just the right amount to do in this game and when done I scored 84% of the trophies. Great Action, Great story, Recommend!
I agree with the previous reviewers that it has improved from the first one but is still a lot of repetition - kill this, kill that , jumps , run, pointless climbing - I don't see that much diversity . It has nice touches with Leonardo's improvements on the weapons but the level of difficulty is a joke - the only time I am dieing is if accidentally drop from a tower- the opponents are easy to kill no mater how heavy are they - I do remember the Templars from the first were much more difficult.
